Jerry and Sarah have been married for three years. They wanted to have some fun and excitement before they decided to have children and so they willfully established an incredibly dynamic social life.
The main difficulty, it needs to be highlighted, is that very nearly everything they do to have fun includes drinking. As an illustration, all of the sporting events, parties with friends, dinner engagements, happy hours, and family get-togethers they go to have something to do with drinking.
Sarah and Jerry Start to Perceive Some Instantly Noticeable Alcohol Related Difficulties That are Correlated With Their Hazardous Drinking
If they were sporadic drinkers, this wouldn’t be a big issue. Because they drink in an irresponsible manner, however, they are starting to perceive some definite alcohol-related difficulties in their lives.
For instance, just six days ago Jerry was arrested for a second DWI and has been calling off from work because of alcohol-related health issues. In addition, Jerry’s last two performance evaluations at work have been less than creditable and he has started to fail to remember what he does or says while he drinks. Lastly, Jerry has been going through sleep-related problems and his family has begun to get anxious about his drinking situation.
Not unlike Jerry’s situation, Sarah has been feeling down in the dumps about life in general and to cope with these feelings, she has been drinking more frequently than any time in the past three years. In addition, Sarah has been experiencing quite a few throbbing headaches and going through painful hangovers after drinking. As a final point, Sarah has been feeling appreciably less energetic when she gets up in the morning, she has been getting to work late almost every Monday, and she has been getting some cruel criticism from her family members, relatives, friends, and coworkers about her abusive drinking.
Watching the Television and Stumbling Upon A Captivating Documentary About the Signs of Alcohol Addiction
One Monday evening while watching TV, Jerry and Sarah happened upon an attention-grabbing program about the signs of alcoholism.
This TV special was a real realization to Jerry and Sarah because some of the alcoholism signs that were highlighted looked like they were unswervingly related to many of the alcohol-related drinking problems Sarah and Jerry had been going through.
An Honest Discussion About Drinking Situations Reveals Alcohol Related Financial, Relationship, Employment, Legal, and Health Problems
After watching the TV special, Jerry and Sarah determined that they needed to have a forthright dialogue about their drinking situation. They both were in agreement that most, if not all, of their social functions were associated with drinking, that they were drinking excessively, and that as a couple, they were starting to see alcohol related financial, health, legal, employment, and relationship problems for the first time since they were married.
With thoughts of the television program still imprinted in her mind, Sarah asked Jerry if some of the alcoholism signs they have been exhibiting could be a warning that they are alcoholic or perhaps becoming addicted to alcohol. Jerry didn’t know the answer to Sarah’s question and so he suggested that they make an appointment with one of the healthcare practitioners at the nearby alcohol abuse rehab facility to find out more about the seriousness of their drinking difficulties.
Handling Your Drinking Difficulties May Decrease Your Trepidation and Give You A Sense of Calm
Ironically, although their drinking behavior hadn’t yet changed, it was plain to see that Sarah and Jerry were at least tackling their drinking problems, they were willing to find out more about their drinking circumstances, and they were interested in learning how they could significantly lessen or do away with the alcohol-related difficulties that had begun to deteriorate.
When Sarah and Jerry went to bed that night, they came to a decision that the next day, Jerry would call and make an appointment for both of them at the alcohol rehabilitation center located just East of the State Capital. After they promised one another that they would do whatever it takes to deal with the alcohol-related difficulties that had manifested themselves in their lives, they actually had the best night’s sleep they could think of in the last three months.
Just before she fell asleep, Sarah turned to Jerry and stated how painless it is to reduce one’s sense of dread and actually experience a sense of calm by coming to terms with one’s problems head-on and deciding to do something affirmative about them.
